This meeting is intended to provide CASC members with the opportunity to interact with Members of Congress and their own University and Lab Government Relations people.
Both Rep. Nick Smith, (R.MI), Chairman of the House subcommittee on Research, and Rep. Sherry Boehlert (R.NY), Chairman of the House Science Committee, have encouraged our community to meet with Members of Congress to inform them about the important research programs that we have undertaken. Unfortunately, on Capitol Hill there is only a limited understanding of the type of high-end research which CASC members are involved in, and this is the best way to address this issue.
