Ester
Gold Camp is situated on the Ester Creek Shelf near Cripple
Creek – one of the richest gold creeks in the world.
Ester Gold Camp dates back to 1900 when the camp was called
Ester City and served several mining claims. Because of the
integrity, location, design, importance of the buildings
and the site of the camp, Ester Gold Camp is officially listed
on the National Register of Historic Places.
The
Malemute Saloon show “Service With a Smile,” features
a professional, polished cast performing comic sketches and
songs, which interpret one of the richest gold strikes in
the world. That strike began right here on Ester, Cripple
and Eva Creeks early this century and continues today. The
poetry of “The Bard of the North” – Robert
Service, is also performed as part of the show – a
long-standing tradition at the Malemute. |
